Siemens’ renewable division has won three separate contracts to supply 52 units of its D3direct drive wind turbines for three projects being built in Ireland and Scotland.

Under the terms of contracts, Siemens will construct, install and commission the turbines.

The company signed a five-year service deal for Galway Phase 1 project located near the city of Galway, 10 year contract for Raheenleagh project in County Wicklow, and 20-year service deal for Aikengall 2 located south east of Edinburgh.

Together the wind projects will be capable of providing renewable energy to nearly 100,000 households.

Out of the 52 turbines, 22 units of SWT-3.0-101 direct drive wind turbines will be supplied to the 64MW Galway Wind Park Phase 1, while the Raheenleagh wind farm will be powered by 11 units of SWT-3.2-108 wind turbines and the Aikengall 2 wind farm project will feature 19 units of SWT-3.2-113 turbines.

Siemens said that all of its 52 D3 product platform wind turbines feature a PMG generator for a high energy yield with high efficiency at low operational costs.
