German company Siemens has secured a contract to deliver, install and commission 12 direct drive wind turbines with 113 meters rotor diameters at Les Gourlous wind farm, located in France’s Champagne-Ardennes region.

The onshore farm is owned by Austria’s WEB Windenergie, which has a total capacity to produce 38MW of power. The project is scheduled to be commissioned next year.

WEB Windenergie is involved in operating wind farms in Europe and North America.

The Les Gourlous project is said to be the largest projects of WEB Windergie, with which the company plans to extend its portfolio.

Under a 20-year service and maintenance agreement, Siemens will provide long-term service to the new project.

Around 35,000 households are expected to be benefitted from the green energy to be supplied from the farm.

In the last one year, the company has installed 127MW of wind capacity in France.

Siemens will be associated with local suppliers while carrying out the construction work on site.

Siemens wind power and renewables division onshore CEO Thomas Richterich said: "This is an important order for us since France is an emerging wind market and we are going to underline the advantages of our solutions at the most important wind energy trade show, EWEA 2015, which opens this week in Paris."

The company expects to showcase new product range on wind energy plants, grid connections, operations and services in the upcoming event of European Wind Energy Association.
