Senvion, a subsidiary Suzlon Group, has completed the phase one of the 350MW Rivière-du-Moulin wind project in Canada.

The wind farm, which is located in the Regional County Municipalities (RCM) of Charlevoix and Fjord du Saguenay, features a total of 152 Senvion MM92 and 23 Senvion MM82 type turbines meant for the special cold climate.

Till date, Senvion has installed and commissioned 75 of the turbines. The second phase will feature 100 additional turbines and this phase is likely to be completed by end of 2015.

The wind farm is expected to produce energy to cater to the power requirements of 106,000 households in the region.

The wind farm’s towers, blades and converters were sourced locally from Quebec.

Senvion currently has a footprint of about 800MW in Quebec that the company’s local team installed and commissioned since 2010.

Hydro-Québec Distribution will purchase the power generated from the project under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

EDF Renewable Services, which is the North American subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, will offer operations and maintenance services for the facility.
