
Offshore wind farm developer Nobelwind has awarded a contract to cable manufacturer Prysmian Group to supply inter array cables for the Bligh Bank 2 offshore wind project in Belgium.
Under the contract, Prysmian will be designing, manufacturing, and supplying 33 kV submarine cables having various cross-sections that will be used to connect 55 individual wind turbines.

Planned to be built off the coast of Zeebrugge in Belgium, the project will be located close to the existing Offshore High Voltage Substation (OHVS) of Belwind1 and have 165MW capacity.
The project is jointly owned by Sumitomo Corporation, Parkwind and Nobelwind and will feature V112-3.3 MW turbines.
Apart from the 33 kV coupling cable, the company will also provide the offshore cable termination and testing services for the project.
Prysmian said that the cables would be manufactured in Drammen, Norway.It also has facilities in Arco Felice (near Naples, Italy) and Pikkala (Finland).
