MidAmerican Energy has announced plans to invest an additional amount of nearly $280m in wind power generation in Iowa.

The investment will see the development of a new wind farm in Adams County and expansion of a second site in O’Brien County in 2015.

Upon securing approval, the proposed wind power project will employ 67 wind turbines.

Expected to be completed by 2015-end, the wind project will add around 162MW of wind energy in Iowa.

With the completion of the new project, MidAmerican Energy will have invested over $6bn for wind generation development in Iowa.

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad said: “MidAmerican Energy’s commitment to wind generation garners long-lasting benefits and makes Iowa a competitive economic force not only in the United States but also in the world.
