Martifer Solar has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreement with Lightsource Renewable Energy to build four additional photovoltaic (PV) solar power projects totaling 78.4MWp in the UK.
As per the deal, Martifer Solar will also provide operation and maintenance services to the projects to be developed in the counties of Cambridgeshire, Devon, Nottingham and Swindon.
To be built on a total area of about 155 hectares, the five PV plants will be equipped with 308,418 modules in ground-mounted fixed structures.
Once completed, the plants will operate with a total production capacity of about 69.05GWh annually while offsetting the emission of about 31,582 tons of CO2 per year.
Martifer Solar UK country manager João Cunha said, "We have been very active developers in the UK market and are looking forward to a continued healthy pipeline of utility-scale projects in development to be ready to build throughout 2014 and early 2015."
Lightsource Renewable Energy managing director Kareen Boutonnat said the company has major projects in a pipeline for the completion of which, it requires to continue building relationships with EPCs including Martifer Solar.
