Chinese photovoltaics (PV) company JinkoSolar has provided 122MW of solar modules to power company Pattern Energy Group for the Conejo solar power project in Chile.

Pattern Development will serve as the owner for the Conejo solar project.

One of the largest solar power projects in Chile, the Conejo project is located in the municipality of Taltal in the Antofagasta region of the northern part of the country.

Minera Los Pelambres, which is an affiliate of the Chilean mining company Antofagasta Minerals has signed a power purchase agreement with Pattern Energy Group for 22 years in a bid to buy the power generated from the solar project.

The Conejo solar power project, which is expected to be completed later this year, will be connected to Chile’s Sistema Interconectado Central transmission system.

It is expected to meet about 65% of the power demand of Los Pelambres.
