China-based JA Solar Holdings has delivered 100MW of solar photovoltaic modules for the Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park, which is claimed to be the largest solar power plant in Pakistan.

By the end of 2016, this plant will have an installed capacity of 1,000MW. The first phase of of 100 MW is likely to be commissioned soon.

Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park is located in the eastern province of Punjab, which receives high solar radiation.

For the last several years, Pakistan has been facing power cuts for as long as 18 hours a day in several cities.

The project is expected to generate about 1.6 billion kWh on a yearly basis.

China and Pakistan have inked several agreements to implement power projects and boost the transmission network in Pakistan.
