Indian wind energy solutions provider Inox Wind has commissioned its 800MW wind-turbine-blade facility, located at the company’s integrated manufacturing unit at Barwani district in Madhya Pradesh.

The unit expects to produce 400 rotor blade sets annually and subsequently manufacture 400 nacelles and hubs, 300 towers annually. It will also double Inox Wind’s production capacity upto 1,600MW.

Said to be one of the largest plants in Asia and the largest in India, the plant aims to enhance investments and economic growth rate in Madhya Pradesh.

It will also provide direct and indirect employment to about 5,000 people in the state.

Inox Wind chief executive officer Kailash Tarachandani said: "The commissioning of the Madhya Pradesh facility is a significant milestone for Inox Wind.

"With the government’s renewed thrust on the development of renewable energy along with a supportive regulatory framework, India’s wind market is expected to be one of the world’s fastest growing.

The company is involved in manufacturing its flagship 100 meter 113 meter rotor dia product and the new facility is expected to boost its capability.

The plant further plans to assist in transportation of equipment to various sites in the country.
