Iberdrola, through its subsidiary ScottishPower Renewables, has secured the Scottish government’s consent for 23 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 69MW for Dersalloch wind farm in the South Ayrshire, Scotland.

Located to the east of Staiton in Scotland, the wind farm is part of the company’s effort to develop renewable energies in the UK.

The company submitted the planning application in April 2005 and has achieved stringent technical and environmental requirements prior to the planning consent.

In order to achieve planning consent, the company has worked with Historic Scotland, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, The University of Leeds, The Scottish Government and the people of South Ayrshire.

Iberdrola is planning to commission the £1.6bn 389MWWest of Duddon Sands offshore wind farm, being jointly developed by DONG Energy, in the East Irish Sea, south west of Barrow-in-Furness.

Recently, the company completed the 136MW Harestanes wind farm in Dumfries and Galloway and the 44MW Beinn an Tuirc Extension wind farm in Argyll & Bute.
