According to the joint venture company of 29 municipal utilities and RWE Innogy, the Düshorner Heide wind farm was completed in the spring and has an installed capacity of 26MW in total.

With its capacity, the wind farm has the capability to produce up to 53,500Mw-hours of electricity annually to supply the equivalent of some 16,000 households with eco-friendly energy besides avoiding more than 40,000t of CO2 emissions.

Green GECCO management member and representative of the municipal utility partners Dr Norbert Ohlms said: "At Green GECCO, 30 strong partners together make their contribution to the energy transition and have built up a broad-based wind portfolio.

"Our five wind farms are in a position to produce eco-friendly power for over 55,000 households. In purely arithmetical terms, we would thus be able to supply a mid-sized city."
