American company GE has unveiled its new renewable energy business, which aims to expand its wind portfolio, following its acquisition of Alstom’s power and grid businesses.
With the new unit, the number of GE’s wind turbines will be over 30,000 across the globe.

It further increases the company’s presence by 50% in Europe. The company expands its presence in regions like Latin America.
GE onshore wind unit president and CEO Anne McEntee said: "Over the past few years, we have really focused on making our wind business more global.
"The Alstom deal helps us gain local experience in key growth regions, and we will be extending our services capabilities to a broader group of customers across the newly combined fleet."
The new business unit of GE has also received a new offshore wind unit in its portfolio.

By GlobalDataThe offshore wind unit includes new Haliade turbine technology, which will be implemented in US’s first offshore wind farm project, Block Island. The construction for the project has already been started, which expects to be operational by next year.
In France, it and has been able to receive orders with EDF and in Germany, it has also been able to bag Merkur offshore project contract.
GE offshore wind unit president and CEO Anders Soe-Jensen said: "Offshore wind is a challenging industry, but we believe the market has real potential.
"Our goal is to work closely with customers to continue validating our technology as we begin to scale and grow the business."
Last April, GE places a biding offer to acquire Alstom’s thermal, renewable and grid businesses for $16.9bn.
