GE Renewable Energy has launched five software applications that will help boost profitability as well as annual energy production of wind farms.

These applications comprise Energy Forecasting for business strategy optimisation, Wind PowerUp Services and Digital Plan of the Day to streamline site operations, and Diagnostics & Prognostics for turbine-level asset performance management.

The applications for GE’s Digital Wind Farm ecosystem are being included as part of its flexible service agreements.

Built on Predix software platform and includes cyber security protection for operational technology, these apps are also compatible with its 2MW and 3MW wind turbines.

GE onshore wind business president & CEO Anne McEntee said: "The Digital Wind Farm is changing the future of our industry.

"We are actively working with our customers to develop new software technology applications that generate more production, better availability and ultimately higher profit across the lifecycle of a wind farm."

A scheduling application, Digital Plan of the Day boosts operations and maintenance efficiency of field service teams.

Wind PowerUp Services platform can increase a wind farm’s annual energy production by about 10%.

Energy Forecasting app makes use of weather forecasting data to provide an exact financial modelling and better predictions for the next day’s grid supply and demand.

Prognostics app uses operating, maintenance and inspection data to estimate future operating conditions.

Diagnostics app utilises operating data for advanced anomaly detection analysis.
