Gamesa, a Spain-based company, has signed an agreement with Gestamp Wind, a subsidiary of Gestamp Renewables, to supply 128 MW of its turbines, for the wind farm complex to be developed by Gestamp at Lagoa Nova in the state of Rio Grande do Norte in Brazil.

The development consists of five wind farms, namely Santana I (20 MW), Santana II and III (30 MW apiece), Lanchinha (28 MW) and Pelado (20 MW).

As part of the contract, Gamesa will manufacture, supply, transport, install and commission 64 G97 wind turbines, each with unit capacity of 2MW, and also support the complex’s foundations civil works.

Gamesa intends to deliver the wind turbines over the course of next year, while the plant is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2014.

In addition, Gamesa will maintain the facility’s services for 10 years.

In less than two years, the company has secured supply contract for about 1000MW in Brazil, while it installed around 394MW in the country in September 2013.

Gamesa also installed about 1,700MW of turbines in other Latin American nations such as Mexico, Honduras, Argentina and Costa Rica.

In addition, Gamesa has signed another agreement with Gestamp Wind to supply 10MW in Turkey.

The company will install and commission five G90-2MW turbines at the Adares wind farm, which is a joint venture project of Gestamp and Faik Celik in Selçuk in the Izmir province.

The turbines in the facility will be maintained by Gamesa for 10 years, which is expected to complete in the second half of 2014.
