Global technology group Gamesa has secured two new contracts to supply and install turbines in 98MW of wind power projects in China.

Under the first contract, Gamesa will deliver 24 G90-2.0 MW turbines, with a total capacity of 48 MW, to Concord New Energy’s (CNE) Cangfang wind farm located in county Huize, Yunnan province in southern China.

The purpose-built wind turbines will be installed 3,400m above sea level.

The turbines, to be installed in the Cangfang wind farm, are designed to survive the low temperatures and low air density environments prevailing in some regions of south-west China.

In May, Gamesa is expected to deliver the turbines to the wind farm, which is scheduled to be commissioned in the second half of this year.

As part of the second contract with Hebei Construction & Investment Group (HCIG), Gamesa will supply, install and commission 25 G97-2.0 MW turbines at phase two of the Senjitu II wind farm, located in Hebei, south-west Peking.

The company has already supplied 50MW capacity in the phase one of the project and will deliver another 50MW for phase two of the Senjitu II complex.

Under a master agreement signed in 2014, Gamesa has agreed to supply a total of 150MW capacity to the projects developed by HCIG.

The third and last phase of the contract is expected to be completed by the first half of this year.

Since 2008, Gamesa has signed orders to supply 300MW to HCIG.

So far, the company has installed over 3,900MW of capacity in China.

Recently, the company has bagged another contract to develop 23MW of solar power capacity for a renewable energy group, New Era Enviro, in India.
