Gamesa has secured a contract from Iberdrola Renewables to supply turbines for the 208MW wind farm being built in Perquimans and Pasquotank counties in the US.

Iberdrola Renewables is building the wind farm for Amazon web service, which will be buying all the power generated from the wind farm to power its data centre in North Carolina.

Gamesa will be supplying 104 units of its G114-2.0 MW turbine to produce 208 MW of power, enough to power more than 61,000 US homes.

As per the contact, Gamesa will supply, transport, provide construction supervision, technical guidance and commissioning of the turbines.

The company is expected to start supplying the turbines in Q2 of 2016, as the project is likely to kick off by the end of 2016.

Gamesa said that the latest order is the largest for the company’s G114 turbines in the US, and it is expected to yield more power at lower cost at places where wind speed is medium.
