Germany’s E.ON is planning to build a 228MW onshore wind farm, Bruenning’s Breeze, in Willacy County, Texas, US.
Equipped with 76 three megawatt turbines from German manufacturer Nordex, the new farm is slated to be commissioned by the end of next year.
Bruenning’s Breeze will be the 22nd wind farm in the US, developed by E.ON, which is currently constructing its Radford’s Run Wind Farm in Illinois.
E.ON climate and renewables CEO Michael Lewis said: “This decision reflects our strong commitment to further develop renewables in the US market.
“Projects like Bruenning’s Breeze demonstrate that we are clearly competitive with conventional power and we will continue our goal to further drive down the costs of renewable energy.”
Currently, the company is installing wind turbines with a total generating capacity of around 1,300MW at its wind farms in the UK, Germany and the US.

By GlobalDataIn May this year, E.ON completed the disposal of explosive ordnance for its Arkona offshore wind farm to be located 35km northeast of the island of Rügen in German Baltic Sea.
The development has enabled the company to start installing the foundations for Arkona wind farm by next year as planned.
Once completed, the wind farm will generate 385MW of power, supplying renewable energy for 400,000 households.
The farm will feature 60 6MW wind turbines manufactured by Siemens and will help save upto 1.2 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year.
