Italian renewable energy firm Enel Green Power has commenced construction on 74MW Little Elk wind project in Oklahoma, US.

Enel Green Power’s subsidiary Enel Green Power North America (EGP-NA) will operate the plant which will require an investment of $130m.

The project is being constructed in Kiowa and Washita Counties, beside EGP-NA’s 150MW Rocky Ridge wind farm.

The facility is expected to generate 330GWh of clean energy annually, after being fully operational.

After starting full operation, the wind project will be able to meet the power demands of more than 27,000 US households, and cut down carbon emissions of over 150,000 tons each year.

People’s Electric Cooperative of Oklahoma (PEC) has signed a 25 year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the project, which has been scheduled to be commissioned by year-end.
