Ecotricity, a green energy firm, is intending to construct three new hybrid renewable energy parks, which comprise for wind and solar power generation.

In line with the proposed hybrid renewable projects, solar parks will be added to two current wind parks in Devon and Lincolnshire, in addition to including a wind park, which is being constructed in Leicestershire.

The three new parks with a total capacity of around 15MW, will produce clean energy that will be sufficient to provide power close to 3,000 homes.

Recently, the firm introduced a radical funding system, called ecobond three, which will support the development of six new green energy projects across the UK. These projects are already under construction. The three projects include a nine-turbine wind park in Dalby, a windmill to power Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn and a solar park in Somerset.

The ecobond three allows houses to have a share in the financial benefits of the clean energy.

Ecotricity founder Dale Vince said: "Hybrid renewable energy parks are a great idea – the two power sources are complementary and what you get in combination is a more consistent energy supply; it may sound obvious, but when there’s less sun in the winter, there’s typically more wind, and vice versa in the summer months – so putting wind and sun together has a big impact.

"It’s the future of renewable energy in Britain, and we need more of them, but currently the government has rigged the market infavour of fossil fuels. That’s why we’re calling on the Conservatives to level the playing field for energy generation in Britain – to remove the subsidies for fossil fuels just as they have done for wind and solar power."

Besides, Ecotricity is working to construct a wind park which will feature around 22 windmills at Heckington Fen in Lincolnshire. The project is touted to be among the biggest wind parks in the UK.
