Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has selected a consortium formed by ACWA Power and TSK for developing a 200MW solar photovoltaic (PV) facility in the city.
The plant will be developed as Phase 2 of the 1GW Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is likely to start operations by 2030.

The 200MW solar PV plant will be based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, DEWA said. It is likely to be operational by April 2017.
Selected via competitive bidding, the consortium will receive levelised cost of energy (LCOE) for power supply at $5.84 cents/kWh under a 25-year agreement.
The Phase 2 project will raise Dubai’s solar power capacity to 220MW, and is likely to reduce annual carbon emissions by 250,000 tons.
DEWA MD & CEO HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said: "As you know, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park supports the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 developed by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy to diversify Dubai’s energy mix.
