Collett’s girder bridge trailer has transferred two 200Te transformers to be delivered at the onshore substation at Burbo Bank extension offshore wind farm development project carried out by UK’s DONG Energy.

After the completion of the project, it will help connecting the 32 turbine offshore wind farm to the national grid and generate power for over 180,000 households.

Logistic group SDV, which handles transformers deliveries across UK, has asked Collett to assist the ship’s discharge at the Port of Mostyn, followed by transportation of the two cumbersome cargoes to site.

The ship will be arrived in July and the onsite team will undertake the project with two ballast tractors and a 14 axle modular hydraulic flat top trailer.

The Collett heavy lift team has already undertaken necessary planning for discharging the vessel and started unloading the components from the hull of the ship. They are operating under Cpa contract lift conditions.

Under the transferring work, the 14 axle trailer lifted each load from the ship. After that, the loads were transported to an agreed holding position at the port where they were stored on stools until a suitable construction stage at the substation will be assigned for delivery.

Last September, the two transformer loads were delivered, but, because of its size and weight it could not be delivered.

The cooperation among Collett’s consulting, projects and heavy lift divisions have provided support while planning and undertaking the delivery of the two cargoes.
