The UK government has given development consent to the Clocaenog Forest Wind Farm in North Wales.

To be spread over an area of around 1,463 hectares, the wind farm will be located in the Clocaenog Forest located within the counties of Conwy and Denbighshire.

The proposed wind farm will feature 32 wind turbines, each of which will have 2-3MW capacity. It will be developed by RWE Innogy UK.

Upon completion, the project will have a capacity to generate clean energy ranging from 64MW to 96MW, which is enough to cater to the energy needs of approximately 40,800 average UK households.

Apart from the wind farm, two other projects Thames Tideway Tunnel and North Killingholme Power Project have also secured development consents from the government.

Planning Inspectorate chief executive Simon Ridley said: "All three applications were submitted to the Planning Inspectorate within days of each other. The examinations were completed and recommendations made to the relevant Secretary of State within the timescales prescribed in the Planning Act.
