
Utility-scale wind and solar energy developer Geronimo Energy has sold a portfolio of its 625MW wind projects and a portfolio of seven solar energy projects to Berkshire Renewables, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy (BHE).
The portfolio includes 400MW Grande Prairie wind farm located in Holt County, Nebraska which will be largest wind energy projects in the state after completion of construction.

Grande Prairie wind farm has already signed a deal with Omaha Public Power District to supply all the power generated from the facility.
Construction on the facility is expected to commence later this year and scheduled for commercial operation in 2016.
The other wind farm, Walnut Ridge is located in north central Illinois, which will have power generation capacity of 225 MW and the General Services Administration (GSA) of the US Federal Government has entered into an agreement to buy 140 MW of power once production starts.
Construction on the Walnut Ridge wind farm is expected to be completed by 2016.

By GlobalDataBHE renewable will buy seven solar developments from Geronimo Energy, which is a part of Xcel Energy’s Community Solar Garden Programme.
The construction of the Minnesota based solar projects is expected to begin in 2016, and present subscribers to the solar portfolio include St. Olaf College, District Cooling St. Paul and St. Paul Public Housing Agency.
