Indian solar power producer Azure Power has commissioned a 100MW solar plant in Jodhpur of Rajasthan, as part of Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission.

Under the mission, the Government of India has allocated solar PV projects totalling 1250MW, in three tranches of 150MW, 350MW and 750MW.

Azure Power managed to win all the three tranches with maximum permissible capacity of 100MW.

After completion of the project, the company is planning to supply the power to Solar Energy Corporation for the next 25 years.

The company has also become the largest owner and operator of solar PV projects under the mission with operational capacity 142MW.

Azure Power CEO Inderpreet Wadhwa said: "With the commissioning of this 100 MW plant we have once again demonstrated our strong project development, engineering and execution capabilities.

"This is the largest capacity project under the NSM Phase-2, where the power is being sold to Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) at INR 5.45 /KWhr with Viability Gap Funding."
