Amazon.com’s subsidiary Amazon Web Services has partnered with EDP Renewables to build a 100MW wind farm in Paulding County, Ohio, US.
The new farm is named as Amazon Wind Farm US Central, which expects to produce around 320,000MWh (MWh) of wind energy per year.

It is estimated that the farm’s production will be able to supply power to over 29,000 households in US and the central and eastern parts of the country will receive over 1.6 million MWh more renewable energy.
The farm is scheduled to be operational in 2017.
Amazon Web Services infrastructure vice president Jerry Hunter said: "We continue to pursue projects that help to develop more renewable energy sources to the grids that power AWS datacenters and bring us closer to achieving our long term goal of powering our global infrastructure with 100 percent renewable energy.
"Our previously announced renewable energy projects put AWS on track to surpass our goal of 40 percent renewable energy globally by the end of 2016. This latest project, Amazon Wind Farm US Central, pushes our renewable energy percentage ever higher."

Last January, the company started a renewable project in Benton County, Indiana, which aims to produce 500,000 MWh of wind power every year.
In the month April this year, Amazon partnered with the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) and the US Partnership for Renewable Energy Finance (US PREF) for participating in the policy making process, with an objective to provide renewable energy to cloud providers.
Further, it started a 170,000 MWh solar farm in Virginia and a 670,000 MWh wind farm in North Carolina.
