The power generated will be delivered to the national power grid through a substation at the site that is linked to the Cerro Colorado substation, which in turn will be connected to the Trinidad station via a 150 kV high voltage line.

The generated power will cater to the requirements of about 74,000 inhabitants every year and cut down greenhouse gas emissions by 118,500 tons of CO2 equivalent.

Abengoa, which started its operations in Uruguay in 1980, has developed several projects for UTE.

The firm opened its first wind farm in Uruguay in May 2014 and is also planning a 70MW facility.

Abengoa’s projects in Uruguay include the extension and remodeling of the drinking water plant in Aguas Corrientes and the Montevideo to San Carlos transmission line.
