The project is being developed by Cazembe Holding, Electricidade de Mocambique EP, Hydroparts Holding and Sonipal de Mocambique. These companies also have ownership stakes in the project.

Tsate is a run-of-river project. The gross head of the project will be 139.3m. The project is expected to generate 375 GWh of electricity.

The hydro power project consists of 3 units of francis turbines.

The nameplate capacity of electric generator(s) to be installed at the project site is 20 MVA.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2023. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2025.
