Germany-based renewable energy developer BayWa r.e. has sold its remaining portfolio of UK solar farms, totalling 75MW, to Greencoat Solar II LP, which is managed by Greencoat Capital.
This portfolio comprises 45MW Bann Road solar farm in Northern Ireland and on the island of Ireland, besides six solar farms in England and Wales totalling 30MW.
BayWa AG board member Matthias Taft said: “While this sale is of our remaining UK portfolio of solar projects, we remain very active in the UK market through our growing solar operations maintenance business, based in Milton Keynes, which has seen significant growth this year. And our wind project and operations management business based in Edinburgh.”
The Bann Road solar farm has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SSE Airtricity.
BayWa r.e. will continue to offer expert operations and maintenance services, thereby ensuring yield optimisation of the facilities.
Among the other plants sold to Greencoat include 5MWp Berthllwyd project near Cardiff; 5MWp Bilsborrow project, north of Liverpool; 5MWp Bodwen project, west of Plymouth.
