MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company subsidiary MidAmerican Renewables has completed the acquisition of the 81MW Bishop Hill II wind project from Invenergy Wind.

Invenergy chief financial officer and chief operating officer Jim Murphy said "We believe MidAmerican Renewables will be an ideal neighbor for Invenergy and the local community hosting the Bishop Hill Wind Energy Center."

MidAmerican Renewables president Bill Fehrman said . "The closing of the Bishop Hill II acquisition adds to our growing portfolio of renewable energy assets."

Construction is currently underway at the project which is located in Henry County, Illinois and will feature 50 General Electric 1.62MW wind turbines.

Construction began last year on the project which is expected to be in commercial operation in fourth quarter of this year.

Under the terms of a 20-year power purchase agreement, Ameren Illinois will purchase the electricity from the project.

Bishop Hill II is the second phase of Invenergy’s Bishop Hill Wind Energy Center while the first phase, Bishop Hill I, which is under construction in Henry County.

It includes 133 General Electric wind turbines, will remain an Invenergy-owned and operated project which will commercial operations due to commence in mid-2012.
