Sinopec will produce the ‘1# bio-jetfuel’ at its refinery in Hangzhou, near Shanghai, which is one of the few in the world to be equipped with the technology to produce aviation fuel from biomass in large-scale.
The energy major is also playing a key role in securing a Chinese airworthiness certification from the country’s Central Government for alternative aviation fuels developed from home grown feedstock.

Airbus is bringing its technical expertise gained from securing certifications with the European Union and US as well as contributing to the selection of sustainable feedstock.
Airbus China president Laurence Barron remarked that bio-fuels are crucial components of helping airlines meet carbon emission targets for the aviation industry.
Sinopec senior vice president DAI Houliang added, "Bio-jetfuel is becoming increasingly important in aviation and the energy market.
"Sinopec is assisting CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) in the airworthiness certification process and is proud to be collaborating with Airbus and other partners in the push for alternative aviation fuels,"
