Owned and operated by Eólico Valle Central, the wind farm is situated 1,800m above sea level near the capital of San Jose.

Eólico Valle Central had been established for the project by a Costa Rican electricity distributer subsidiary CNFL and BCIE, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration.

The Central American country aims to generate 100% renewable energy by 2021, which the project supports.

juwi Energias Renovables Costa Rica managing director Alejandro Guerrero noted the challenges in completing the project owing to the altitude as well as rains during construction, making accessibility difficult.
