Renewable Energy Systems Canada (RES Canada) has received a contract from SunEdison to build two 10 megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic plants in Ontario.
As part of the deal, the firm will serve as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the Newboro I and Newboro IV projects that are intended to qualify for the province’s feed-in-tariff (FIT) program.

Newboro I and IV projects, which are expected to be completed in 2014, will use the SunEdison Silvantis 320 watt modules and Unirac fixed-tilt racks.
The projects that are situated in Eastern Ontario between the towns of Westport and Newboro, are expected to together provide renewable energy to power about 4,000 average homes in the province.
The electricity from both the projects will be sold under a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Ontario Power Authority.
RES Canada development vice president Peter Clibbon said the company is proud to be constructing the projects for SunEdison.

The company also constructed 30MW Webberville solar facility in Texas and SunE Rutley and Norfolk solar projects in Ontario, which are each 10MW, for SunEdison.
SunEdison general manager and vice president Michael Dilworth said, "We are pleased to have RES Canada constructing these two projects."
RES Canada also holds wind construction portfolio of about 670MW in the country, which includes the 270MW South Kent Wind project, Ontario’s largest wind farm.
