Acciona Windpower, a business unit of Acciona Windpower, has received a contract from ZT Enerji Elektrik Üretim Sanayi ve Ticaret (Zafer Group) to supply and assemble 3MW wind turbines at the Çerçikaya wind farm in Turkey.

As part of the deal, Acciona will supply nineteen AW125/3000 turbines to the wind farm, which is situated in Hatay province in the south of the country.

The company said that the contract also includes the operation and maintenance of the installation for 10 years.

The wind turbines, which will be mounted on 87.5m high steel towers, will have a rotor diametre of 125m.

The company will supply turbines in 2014 and 2015, while the entry into service of the wind farm is planned for the end of February 2015.

Acciona Windpower general director José Luis Blanco said the agreement could be a reference point for future contracts in the country.

"We are very pleased to have signed our first supply agreement in Turkey, a wind power market that will grow in the next few years, with a prestigious customer like the Zafer Group," Blanco added.

Zafer Group CEO Mehmet Necati Yagci said that the combined experience of Acciona and Zafer Group will provide a solid basis for the project.

"As it is the first contract awarded to ACCIONA Windpower in the country, we believe that this project is crucial for both parties," Yagci added.

Acciona Windpower has signed supply contracts for around 1,200MW of capacity for 3MW wind turbine, in 2013.
