Kwoiek Creek Resources Limited Partnership ( KCRLP), a joint venture between Innergex Renewable Energy and Kanaka Bar Indian Band, has commenced the operation of the 49.9MW Kwoiek Creek hydro power plant in Canada.

Innergex owns 50% stake in KCRLP and is responsible for construction as well as the operation of the power plant while the remaining 50% stake is held by Kanaka Bar Indian Band.

The Kwoiek Creek hydro power plant is located partly on Crown lands and partly on reserve lands, about 14km south of Lytton in British Columbia.

Construction of the power project was started in 2011 and completed in early December 2013.

The commissioning of the plant started at that time, the Corporation and BC Hydro have amended their agreement to clarify stipulated production levels, subject to approval by the British Columbia Utilities Commission.

After receiving approval, BC Hydro will accept the COD Certificate with an effective commissioning date of 1 January 2014 for the Kwoiek Creek power project.

The Kwoiek Creek plant is expected to generate 223,400MWh of electricity per year, enough to power more than 20,000 households in British Columbia.

All of the electricity generated by the plant will be sold to BC Hydro under a 40-year fixed-price power purchase agreement.
