Gamesa has secured a contract from CGN Wind Energy, a subsidiary of China’s General Nuclear Power Group, to supply turbines to a 100MW wind farm, which is under development in China.

Under the contract, Gamesa will supply and install 50xG97-2.0MW wind turbines at the Yangchajie wind complex located in the province of Yunnan, in southeast China in the last quarter of 2014.

The contract also includes potential supply of another 100MW during a second phase of the project in the course of 2015.

Gamesa CEO in China José Antonio Miranda said "This agreement marks a very important step in Gamesa’s sales and product strategy in China, where we recently announced another two contracts, one for Fujian for 48 MW and one for CGN for 49.3 MW."

Specifically configured for high-altitude locations, the turbines which will be installed at the Yangchajie will be designed to withstand the low temperatures and low air density conditions typically encountered in the province of Yunnan.

The low power density of the G97-2.0 MW turbines, a part of the Gamesa 2.0-2.5MW platform, helps customers reduce cost of energy.
