Brazilian wind power developer Río Energy has awarded a contract to Acciona Windpower to provide a total of 30x3MW turbines for the Itarema wind power complex in Ceará state of Brazil.

Under the contract, Acciona Windpower will supply 21 AW 116/3000 model having rotor diameter of 116m, and nine are the AW 125/3000 version having rotor diameter of 125m.

Acciona will also install the turbines on 100m and 120m high concrete towers of Itarema wind power complex, which will be manufactured near the wind farms by using the assembly method created by Acciona.

Additionally, Acciona has signed a letter of intent for the purchase of 39 additional turbines (117MW) from Rio Energy for use in other wind farms in the Itarema project.

The agreement, however, is yet to be formalized and will be done in next few months.
