British Solar Renewables (BSR) has begun construction of Canada Farm Solar Park, with while expanding existing relationship with Ingenious Clean Energy with the forward funding.

Being constructed on a 14ha site near Winterborne Stickland in Dorset, the solar park will feature 35,600 260 watt panels and will produce 8.7MW of electricity which is enough to meet the average annual demand of 2,700 typical UK households.

BSR managing director Angus Macdonald said: "We are delighted to be building on our relationship with Ingenious by embarking on our fourth solar park within a year. We look forward to delivering the plant using our fully integrated internal team."

Ingenious Clean Energy investment director Jeremy Milne said: "We are pleased to consolidate the burgeoning relationship with BSR and appreciate dealing with a high quality counterparty with an excellent delivery track record."

The Canada Farm Solar Park, which received planning permission in June 2014, is expected to be completed before the end of 2014.

The company started extensive and ongoing consultation with the local community and planning authorities in 2012 for the proposed solar park.

Canada Farm is a mixed livestock and arable farm and the solar park will enable sheep grazing for the generation of clean renewable energy to operate alongside agriculture and biodiversity.

Through operations and maintenance team, BSR will manage the park for the long term.

Corbin Industries will provide the steel fabrication and ground mounting systems whereas BSR subsidiary Renewable Energy Connections will provide the grid connection working in conjunction with the distribution network operator, Scottish & Southern Electricity.
