The electricity generated by the power provides enough energy to supply more than 18 million European households while averting the emission of 45 million tons of CO2/year, which is equivalent to the annual emissions generated by 15 million cars or the carbon offset by 7.5 million hectares of trees in the same period.
Till date, Gamesa has installed 30,000MW of its turbines in countries including Kenya, the Philippines, Mauritania, Ecuador (Galápagos Islands) and Uruguay, starting with installation of G42/44-500kW turbine at the El Perdón (Navarra) wind farm in 1994.
The company installed most capacity (12,208MW) in Spain followed by the US (3,941MW) and China (3,512MW) while the majority of installations are from its 2MW platform (17,460MW), followed by the 850kW range (8690MW).
Gamesa installed its turbines in 45 countries including areas such as desert conditions, at high-altitude sites (over 2,000m), in areas exposed to typhoons and even in locations subject to seismic activity.
