The plant will be set up in Adilabad district, reports Times of India.
Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company (TSSPDCL) has called for Request for Selection through competitive bidding.
The bids will be shortlisted and finalised by the end of this month, with a view that the plant becomes operational over the next 10 months.
TSSPDCL chief general manager was quoted by Times of India as saying: "The five districts – Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medak, Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar- under TSSPDCL need 4,000MW per day while the current allocation is only 3,500MW to 3,600MW."

By GlobalDataThe developers of the plant will have to seek approvals from local bodies and the Centre and set up the units on build-own-operate basis. The selected company will have to supply power for a term of 25 years to the substations.
Currently, the state is not able to meet the energy requirements through existing hydel and thermal power plants.
Meanwhile, TSSPDCL expects adding another 1,200 MW of thermal power in the state by next year with the Singareni Collieries Company Limited planning to establish two plants of each 600 MW capacity in Adilabad district.
