Adani Enterprises (AEL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government of Rajasthan in India for developing a 10,000MW solar park in the state.

The firm will form a joint venture (JV) with Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RREC) for the project, it said.

AEL is expected to invest around INR400bn ($6.4bn) for the project, reports The Economic Times (ET).

The solar park is expected to be built by the next 10 years. It will house power generation projects along with a single unit which will manufacture solar modules, parts and equipment.

Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani said: "India has embarked upon an ambitious program of becoming a world leader in renewable power generation, with a special focus on solar.

"The development of Solar Park facility is our contribution towards realization of our Honorable Prime Minister’s campaign and commitment towards clean and green energy in India."

India wants to drive its solar power generation capacity by 2022. Aiming at 100,000MW generation, the government has issued guideline for around 25 solar parks, having 500MW of generation capacity each.
