German company Siemens has secured an order from Pattern Energy Group to supply, support and install 65 wind turbines to the Amazon Wind Farm, which will be located near Fowler, Indiana.
Siemens Financial Services has committed $150m for the project, and its unique financing solution is reportedly one of the reasons why Siemens got the project.
The German company will also collaborate with Pattern Energy to provide 67 Mount Generation Step Up (GSU) Transformers for the Amazon Wind Farm (Fowler Ridge).
The site is expected to produce 150-MW of power, which will be bought by Amazon to supply electricity to the electric grids for Amazon Web Services.
Siemens said that project would feature Siemens SWT-2.3-108 wind turbines, which is a part of the company’s G2 platform of onshore-geared products.
The SWT-2.3-108 wind turbines have power rating of 2.3 megawatts (MW) and 53-meter blades.
