
Netherlands-based dredging company Royal Boskalis Westminster (Boskalis) in partnership with European construction-services company VolkerWessels has been awarded a €500m contract for installation of 67 foundations of Veja Mate Offshore Project.
The Veja Mate Offshore Wind Farm will be built on German North Sea and scope of work under the contract includes design, procurement, fabrication, supply, transportation, installation and testing of the turbine base.
In the €500m contract Boskalis has 50% stake in the project.
Construction work on the offshore farm will begin by the end of this year with scheduled completion in 2016.
After completion, the wind farm will be capable of producing 402 MW of power, enough to meet the power demands of more than 28,000 households.
The project is also expected help in reducing 575,416 tonnes of CO2 per year.
