
Lahmeyer International along with Manitoba Hydro International (MHI) will provide engineering services for the 140MW Tanahu Hydropower Plant in Nepal.
Under the 12 year contract, Lahmeyer will conduct a review of the tender design and documents during the first year, which will be followed by the award of the construction contracts.
Construction of the project is expected to take up to six years, during which Lahmeyer will be responsible for construction and commissioning of the project, after which, it will provide assistance during the operation of the plant over the next five years.
The company said that its specialists would apply their extensive international experience in the design and execution of hydropower plants.
Canada based Manitoba Hydro International (MHI) has been selected to act as sub-consultant for the project.
The project will be built on the Seti River in the Tanahu district, about 100km from the capital Kathmandu.

By GlobalDataTanahu Hydropower Plant will be country’s first major storage-type hydropower project being built to meet power demand in the country as well as export electricity, especially to India.
The project has two components which include a 140MW power plant with water storage facilities, electricity transmission line.
Tanahu Hydropower, a company founded by Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), owns the project.
Lahmeyer has previously provided its services to hydropower projects like 450 MW Baglihar I in India and 690 MW Kárahnjúkar in Iceland.
