Emerson Process Management, a unit of Emerson has secured a deal to provide automation solution to the Shehong Liushu Hydropower Project in Sichuan province of China.

Emerson will be supplying its Ovation control, which is a distributed control system that utilises commercially available technology to provide powerful and secure architecture.

Ovation technology will also directly control primary plant equipment and manage information from the 24 spillways.

Emerson will also provide SCADA technology to manage hydropower operations.

Shehong Liushu Hydropower Project is owned by Tuopai Power Development, and will feature three 16MW power generating units, and the first unit is expected to become operational in March next year.

Tuopai Power Development is the first hydropower plant in the country to adopt distributed control system technology.

The technology is expected to provide tighter overall control, enhanced diagnostics, improved plant efficiency, reliable grid synchronisation and enhance cybersecurity.
