Enphase Energy, a global energy technology company, has strengthened its presence in New Zealand with the opening of a new global research and development (R&D) facility in Christchurch.
The company has invested $4.4m in the new facility to develop and test future energy technologies for global markets.
The R&D facility will help Enphase in conducting global compliance testing and verification capabilities for its microinverters as well as provide a platform to expand their future development of the Enphase AC Battery.
Enphase AC Battery is a modular energy storage system that integrates with the Enphase Home Energy
Solution.
The new facility is claimed to be the company’s second largest engineering facility outside Petaluma, California.
Enphase will launch their Home Energy Solution from Winter 2016 in New Zealand and Australia, and this would be the first time that the company will be launching in these two countries.

Enphase engineering vice-president Greg Steele said: “Over the years, our engineering team in Christchurch has strategically contributed toward the design, development and testing of Enphase microinverters sold in Asia-Pacific and Europe.
“By making a further investment in New Zealand, Enphase is now poised for future growth as we continue to build a world-class engineering team that will work in tandem with the team in California to develop future generations of the Enphase Home Energy Solution.”
