German wind power industry Nordex has won an order to install two wind farms in the South West of Ireland of a total capacity of 42.5MW.

The orders will be complemented by a 15 year premium full-service contract.

The wind farms are expected to be fully operational by the next year.

The Killaveenoge wind farm near Drinagh in County Cork will consist of ten N90/2500 turbines with a 125m tip height for a local Irish developer and is scheduled to be delivered this year.

The Coollegrean wind farm near Brosna in County Kerry will feature seven turbines and will be deployed for Element Power. It will also consist of N90/2500 turbines but with a 115m tip height. Turbine delivery is scheduled at the end of this year.

Nordex chief sales officer Patxi Landa said: "Nordex has built business in Ireland over many years. Ireland continues to be an important market for our company, and we have a strong team on the ground there.
